Vice President Al-Sheikh, Egyptian Foreign Minister discuss developments in Palestine

RAMALLAH, June 13, 2026 (WAFA) – Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein Al-Sheikh held a telephone conversation on Saturday with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty as part of ongoing consultations and coordination regarding developments in the Palestinian territories.

The two officials discussed efforts to implement the commitments of the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan, including ensuring full and sustained access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, deploying an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire and secure the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to begin carrying out its duties inside the enclave until the Palestinian Authority resumes its full responsibilities.

The discussion also addressed recent developments in the occupied West Bank. Abdelatty condemned the escalation of colonial activities and the continued Israeli violations in occupied East Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning of the consequences of such measures for prospects of peace and stability in the region.

The Egyptian foreign minister reaffirmed Egypt’s longstanding support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also stressed the importance of empowering the Palestinian Authority to fulfill its responsibilities and preserving the unity of the Palestinian territories in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank as a foundation for any just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue.

Meanwhile, Al-Sheikh expressed appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian cause and its continued efforts to halt escalation, achieve calm, and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people.

He underscored the importance of maintaining coordination and consultation between the two sides during the coming period.
