RAMALLAH, May 22, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian presidency welcomed the joint statement issued by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, and the Netherlands, in addition to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, in which they condemned the escalation of colonists’ violence and the policies of the Israeli government in the West Bank, and reaffirmed the illegality of colonial settlement activity under international law.
The presidency described the statement as an important step in the right direction and a strong international position in support of international legitimacy, rejecting unilateral Israeli measures that systematically undermine the two-state solution.
It further called for the establishment of serious and effective mechanisms to translate these important positions into concrete steps that would pressure the occupation authorities to halt their measures that violate international legitimacy and international law.
