RAMALLAH, March 23, 2026 (WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the official spokesperson for President Mahmoud Abbas, said that the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, which continues to result in daily causalities, including three people killed on Tuesday morning, along with colonist attacks in the West Bank involving killing, arson, and destruction, will not alter the essence of the conflict, nor will it grant legitimacy to anyone.

Abu Rudeineh asserted that as long as the occupation persists, there will be no security or stability in the region or the world.

He added that the only solution to the crises and wars plaguing the Middle East is a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, based on international law, the Arab Peace Initiative, and UN resolutions. He acknowledged such process is a long, complex, and bloody, but described it as the only path to prevent further wars.

Abu Rudeineh pointed out that although the options available to the region and the world are difficult and dangerous due to the continuation of wars and crises and the erosion of international legitimacy and international law, there is an opportunity to restore regional stability.

This, he said, requires pursuing a future settlement based on ending the occupation and granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights to freedom and independence, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, alongside the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, in accordance with international and Arab legitimacy and international law.
