Israeli forces continue aggression on Tulkarm for the 72nd consecutive day

TULKARK, April 8, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces continued the aggression against the city of Tulkarm and its camp for the 72nd consecutive day, and for the 59th day against the Nur Shams camp, amid raids and attacks targeting several areas inside and around the city.

The occupation forces dispatched military reinforcements to the city and its two camps, Tulkarm and Nur Shams, and deployed infantry units within their neighborhoods.

They raided and vandalized homes, converting several into military outposts. This was accompanied by the use of live ammunition, and occasional explosions were heard in the Tulkarm camp, especially after midnight.

A military bulldozer raided Abu al-Foul neighborhood inside the Tulkarm camp, coinciding with the widespread deployment of occupation vehicles in the camp's streets, which were now empty of its residents after they were forcibly expelled from their homes.

Meanwhile, the occupation forces deployed several bulldozers into the Nur Shams camp, and soldiers pursued residents as they attempted to reach their homes to inspect them.

Several residents were detained for extended periods, and they were subjected to abuse and threats.

A military force also raided the Dhnaba suburb, east of the city, raiding the home of the al-Zubaidi family, searching it, and interrogating its residents. No arrests were reported.

Military vehicles continued to patrol the city's streets at night, including the vegetable market and Muqata'a Street, coinciding with the deployment of occupation forces in the eastern neighborhood, where they fired sound bombs before heading toward Tulkarm refugee camp.

Occupation forces continued to seize homes and residential buildings on Nablus Street and the northern neighborhood of the city, transforming them into military barracks with their vehicles stationed around them.

They also restricted citizens' movement on the street, whose sections were closed off with earth mounds in both directions.

Late last night, occupation forces set up a flying checkpoint under the Jabara Bridge, at the southern entrance to the city, stopping vehicles, obstructing their movement, and subjecting them to searches and inspections of their passengers' IDs.

The raids extended to the towns of Qaffin, Baqa al-Sharqiya, al-Nazlat, and Zeita, north of Tulkarm, where occupation forces patrolled the streets and neighborhoods, conducting sweeps.

The ongoing aggression on the city and its two camps resulted in the killing of 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens were also injured and arrested, and more than 4,000 families were forcibly displaced from the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, along with dozens of families from the city's northern neighborhood after their homes were seized and several converted into military outposts.

The aggression also caused widespread destruction to the city's infrastructure, including homes, shops, and vehicles, which were subjected to total or partial demolition, burning, vandalism, looting, and theft. 396 homes were completely destroyed and 2,573 partially destroyed in the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, in addition to the closure of their entrances and alleys with earth mounds.
