AMSTERDAM, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The Dutch government announced on Monday that it will tighten restrictions on the export of all military products and dual-use goods to Israel.
In a letter to parliament, the Dutch government stated that all direct exports and transit products to Israel will be checked for compliance with European regulations and will no longer be carried out under general export licenses.
Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp and Trade Minister Renate Kleaver wrote that the desire to implement this is based on the security situation in Israel, the Palestinian territories, and the region as a whole.
They added that exporters will still be able to request licenses, which will then be checked in light of European regulations.
The government confirmed that no military products have been exported to Israel from the Netherlands under a general license since Israel began its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
It added that the general license for the export of low-risk information security products, such as network security routers, has been used repeatedly for exports to Israel.
It estimates that between 50 and 100 individual export licenses for these products will now be required.
Last year, a Dutch court ordered the government to ban all exports of F-35 fighter jet spare parts to Israel over concerns that they would be used in violation of international law during the war on Gaza.
