NEW YORK, November, 12, 2024 (WAFA) – Under the patronage of Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in the presence of a number of foreign ministers of the Member States, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States(LAS), and Ambassador Nader Fath Al-Alim, representing the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, participated in signing the joint coordination mechanism between the three organizations on supporting the Palestinian cause, on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit held on Monday, November 11, 2024, in Riyadh.
This step comes as an affirmation of the joint commitment to strengthening cooperation, coordination, and partnership among the three organizations based on their constituent documents and the resolutions issued by them regarding Palestine, as well as their shared values of justice and peace, in addition to anti-colonial struggle, and fighting oppression and racial discrimination.
This mechanism includes enhancing joint efforts at the political, legal, humanitarian, media, and cultural levels to support and defend the rights of the Palestinian people who are being subjected to brutal aggression, genocide, displacement, and systematic destruction by the Israeli occupation forces.
The three organizations will work within the framework of this joint mechanism to coordinate positions and movements in international forums, facilitate regular exchange of views, and organize joint events, meetings, and workshops to support Palestine.
The OIC Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, also appreciated the Saudi sponsorship of the signing of this mechanism, as it is added to the great efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the Palestinian cause.
