German FM calls on Israel to open border crossings in Gaza to allow humanitarian aid to enter

BERLIN, November 11, 2024 (WAFA) – German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock called on Israel on Monday to open all border crossings to the Gaza Strip to allow humanitarian aid to enter.

The German minister said in a press statement that the volume of aid entering the Gaza Strip has not reached such a low level over the past 12 months, describing the humanitarian situation there as tragic.

Baerbock added that Israel has made repeated promises in this regard, but "has not fulfilled them," stressing that the occupation government must provide "without excuses" more aid to the civilian population suffering in the Gaza Strip.

The minister continued that "a large percentage of the more than two million people (in the Gaza Strip) suffer from severe malnutrition and live in unimaginable conditions."

She pointed out that there is no other place in the world with such a large number of children suffering from amputations in such a small area.

Baerbock added that vast areas of Gaza are completely wasteland.

She renewed her call for a ceasefire, saying that "without a ceasefire, the death will not stop, and the suffering will not end."
