NEW YORK, November 6, 2024 (WAFA) – The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territories Muhannad Hadi described the situation in one of the displacement sites in northern Gaza as miserable, saying that 'this is not a place fit for human survival.
"This misery must end and the war must stop. The situation is beyond imagination," he added.
Hadi said during his first visit to the area since the start of the latest Israeli military operation in the northern Gaza Strip that he heard horrific stories from the people he met in northern Gaza, stressing that no one can bear what the people in the Strip are going through.
"These are the victims of this war, these are the ones who are paying the price of this war - the children around me here, the women, the elderly," he added.
"What I saw now is completely different from what I saw in northern Gaza last September. In this school, 500 people were staying there, now there are more than 1,500 people. There is a shortage of food, sewage everywhere, and waste and garbage are spread."
The UN official visited a temporary learning space called Al-Nayzak on the already damaged Al-Jalaa Street, where tents have also been set up to provide a minimum level of education, and which is a safe place for the children of the neighborhood to deal with the horrors they have experienced since the war began in October last year.
