CAIRO, October 20, 2024 (WAFA) - Egypt denounced on Sunday Israel's recent bombing of a residential area in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, which led to significant civilian casualties among Palestinians.
In a statement, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the targeting of civilians, the perpetration of massacres and the destruction of critical infrastructure, including homes, hospitals and schools.
Egypt emphasized that there was no justification for the staggering number of civilian casualties and called for immediate international accountability and intervention to end the violence.
The statement underscored the importance of activating international accountability mechanisms to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza, stop the targeting and intimidation of innocent people, and uphold the fundamental principles of international and humanitarian law.
It reiterated the call for the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security, cautioning that failure by the international community to act swiftly to halt the Israeli aggression could have serious repercussions.
