Spanish PM Sánchez urges the international community to halt arms sales to Israel

ROME, October 11, 2024 (WAFA) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez Friday urged the international community to halt arms sales to Israel, according to Agence France-Presse.

"In the light of everything that is happening in the Middle East, it is urgent that the international community stop exporting arms to the Israeli government," Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez said, speaking after meeting with Pope Francis in Rome.

"This is an appeal that I will make... to the entire international community," he said, adding that it was important "not to contribute in one way or another to the escalation of violence and to the war and its expansion in Gaza, the West Bank or, in this case, to Lebanon."

"Let me at this point criticize and condemn the attacks that the Israeli armed forces are carrying out on the United Nations mission in Lebanon," Sánchez added.
