Occupation authorities approve construction of 3,500 new units in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities today approved the construction of 3,500 new colonial units in the occupied West Bank.

They will be built in the Maale Adumim, Efrat, and Kedar colonies.

The approval includes depositing plans for the construction of 2,350 colonial units in the Maale Adumim colony, 300 units in the Kedar colony located southeast of occupied Jerusalem, and 694 units in the Efrat colony built on citizens’ lands south of occupied Jerusalem.

It is noteworthy that last week, the occupation authorities seized about 2,640 dunums of Palestinian-owned of land from the towns of Abu Dis, Al-Eizariya, and Arab Al-Sawahra, east of occupied Jerusalem.

A report issued by the Israeli "Peace Now" human rights movement, last month, showed an escalation in colonial activity in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7th.

The report indicated the establishment of 9 new colonial outposts within about three months, in addition to 18 colonial roads,

The report also indicated the colonists` policy of closing roads in the occuapied West Bank, including Jerusalem, restricting the citizen's movements.
