RAMALLAH, Tuesday, April 18, 2023 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today said 280,000 Muslim worshippers were present at Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Old City of Jerusalem last night to celebrate Laylat al-Qadr, a revered Ramadan night.
They said people were able to make it to Jerusalem from all over the occupied territories and from inside Israel despite Israeli obstructions.
The dailies also highlighted attacks by Israeli settlers and soldiers against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories and said a woman was injured by army bullets near Bethlehem on allegation she attempted to stab soldiers and a youth was injured in Jerusalem after he allegedly attempted to steal a car in a Jewish settlement.
They also reported on the events and rallies held yesterday in support of Palestinian freedom fighters held in Israel as people marked the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily said President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, yesterday and is expected to meet with the Saudi monarch and crown prince today.
It said China reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause in a telephone call between the Palestinian and Chinese foreign ministers.
Al-Ayyam daily said Israel plans to build 2969 units in illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.
Al-Quds daily said it launched a Hebrew-language site to tell the Palestinian narrative to the Israeli public.
It also reported on the conflict between the coalition government in Israel and the opposition as well as on the conflict in Sudan and said more than 180 people were killed and over 1800 injured in three days of fighting, in what al-Ayyam daily described as the “war of the two generals.”
