JERUSALEM, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 (WAFA) – After shooting and injuring yesterday a 13-year-old boy in Shufat refugee camp alleging he attempted to stab soldiers at the camp’s checkpoint, Israeli occupation forces raided the camp last night and attacked residents, who clashed with the forces, shooting at a car and injuring its driver.
WAFA correspondent said the soldiers opened fire at the camp’s residents and cars hitting a 35-year-old resident in the belly, who was taken to hospital where his injury was reported to be moderate to serious.
As a punishment to the camp residents following the alleged stabbing, which resulted in the death of a soldier who was accidentally shot by his colleague when he opened fire at the 13-year-old boy, identified as Mohammad Basel Zilbani, the Israeli occupation authorities shut down the checkpoint, which connects the camp residents to their workplaces and schools in Jerusalem, and prevented movement in and out of the camp.
The soldiers also raided the Zilbani family house, ransacked it, and detained the boy’s parents and brother.
