RAMALLAH, September 23, 2026 (WAFA) — Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the need to support the Palestinian Authority and preserve its ability to carry out its responsibilities, with the aim of restoring its role in the Gaza Strip and safeguarding the unity of Palestinian territory and institutions.
Madbouly made the remarks during a summit on Palestine and the two-state solution, co-chaired by the United Kingdom, France, and Canada on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He is attending the summit on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Madbouly said the foundations of the two-state solution are facing unprecedented challenges amid settlement expansion and land seizures, escalating settler violence in the West Bank, attempts to alter the historical and legal status of occupied East Jerusalem, and Israel’s continued control over large areas of the Gaza Strip and restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid.
He reiterated Egypt’s categorical rejection of the annexation of Palestinian territory or the displacement of the Palestinian people, stressing the need to preserve the unity and territorial contiguity of Palestinian lands and to support and empower the Palestinian Authority to carry out its responsibilities, ultimately restoring its role in the Gaza Strip.
Madbouly welcomed steps taken by the United Kingdom, France, Canada, and other countries to address settlement activities in the occupied territories, calling for practical measures to prevent annexation, settlement expansion, and displacement.
He stressed the need for the full implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan alongside the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, including upholding the ceasefire, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid, the Israeli withdrawal, weapons control, the deployment of an international stabilization force, empowering the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and launching the reconstruction process.
Madbouly affirmed that Egypt would continue working with various partners to safeguard the two-state solution and achieve peace in the region.
