Palestinian prisoner diagnosed with a lung tumor

RAMALLAH, Sunday, June 12, 2022 (WAFA) – Shadi Ghawadra, 34, a Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails, has been diagnosed with a lung tumor amid delays by the Israeli Prison Service in allowing him access to the necessary medical examinations, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) has said.

Ghwadra, a resident of the village of Bir el-Basha, north of the occupied West Bank, has been in prison since 2003 and is serving a life in prison. He’s already suffering various health issues due to being wounded by Israeli occupation soldiers the time he was arrested in 2003.

PPS said there has been a noticeable rise in the number of Palestinian prisoners diagnosed with cancer or tumors inside Israeli prisons, noting that there could many more other cases that are not yet diagnosed.

There are more than 4,500 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails, incarcerated for resisting the Israeli occupation of their homeland.
