Palestine records 823 new coronavirus cases, eight deaths

RAMALLAH, Monday, January 17, 2022 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 823 new Covid-19 cases and eight deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.

She announced that 823 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and eight others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 823 cases, 680 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 143 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the death cases as residents of the West Bank. No death cases were registered in the Gaza Strip.

She added that 195 Covid-19 patients recovered; 170 recovery cases in the West Bank and 25 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 58 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 24 who are connected to ventilators, while 94 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 97.7 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020, active cases for 1.3 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
