RAMALLAH, Friday, January 14, 2022 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 592 new Covid-19 cases and a death, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 592 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and another died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 592 cases, 442 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 150 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Al-Kaileh identified the death case as a resident of the West Bank district of Qalqilia. No death cases were registered in the Gaza Strip.
She added that 339 Covid-19 patients recovered; 209 recovery cases in the West Bank and 130 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 52 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 19 who are connected to ventilators, while 93 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.
Recoveries account for 98.2 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020, active cases for 0.8 percent and the death toll accounts for 1 percent.
Meanwhile, Spokesman for the Health Ministry, Kamal Shakhra, said that 222 new Omicron variant cases were registered in the West Bank, bringing the total Omicron variant cases to 699.
