RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 12, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today confirmed 809 new Covid-19 cases and 11 death cases, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She announced that 809 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 11 others died of it in the occupied territories.

As part of the 809 new cases, 160 cases were registered in the West Bank and 649 others in the Gaza Strip.

She identified the death cases as eight cases from the Gaza Strip and three others from the West Bank.

She added that 1,683 Covid-19 patients recovered; 423 recovery cases in the West Bank and 1,260 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 71 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units and 152 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries, including 12 who are intubated.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 95.4 percent and the active cases account for 3.6 percent. The death toll stood at 1 percent of total infections.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 2,327,971 people have been so far vaccinated in the occupied territories; 1,684,983 people in the West Bank and 642,988 others in Gaza. A total of 1,191,099 people received the second dose of the vaccine.
