RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 2,193 new Covid-19 cases and 29 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 2,193 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 29 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 2,193 cases, 1,916 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 277 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with (390) cases, followed by Nablus (359) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (330) cases, Tulkarm (194) cases, Jenin (191) cases, Bethlehem (137) cases, Qalqiliya (106) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (79) cases, Salfit (70) cases, Tubas (40) cases and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (20) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 25 deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and four from the besieged Gaza Strip.
In terms of the number of deaths, Ramallah & al-Bireh district was ranked the first among the West Bank districts with seven deaths, followed by Hebron district (6) deaths, Nablus (5) deaths, Bethlehem (4) deaths, Tulkarm (2) deaths and Salfit (1) death.
She added that 2,080 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,875 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 205 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 187 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 56 who are connected to ventilators.
Recoveries account for 89.3 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.6 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
