AMMAN, August 22, 2025 (WAFA) – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned statements made by the Israeli Minister of Communications, in which he praised plans to expand settlements in the contentious E1 area of the occupied West Bank and invoked extremist claims that both banks of the Jordan River are part of the “Land of Israel.”
In a statement issued Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah firmly rejected the provocative and inciteful rhetoric. He emphasized that such remarks will not affect Jordan’s steadfast position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including efforts to halt what he called ongoing war crimes committed against them.
Ambassador Qudah described the statements as a reflection of the Israeli government’s growing international isolation and internal crisis, which he said has led its extremist officials to promote racist and exclusionary ideologies that fuel ongoing conflict across the region.
He warned that the continued policies of the current Israeli government pose serious threats to regional peace and stability. The ambassador pointed to the systematic violations of international law, the United Nations Charter, and binding Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which denounces Israeli actions aimed at altering the demographic composition and status of occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
Qudah also cited the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which reaffirmed the illegality of Israel’s occupation and settlement expansion, as well as the nullity of annexation measures in the West Bank.
The Jordanian official renewed his call on the international community to uphold its legal and moral obligations by holding Israel accountable. He urged world powers to pressure Israel to cease all provocative actions and rhetoric that jeopardize regional and global security, halt its ongoing assault on Gaza, and stop its dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank.
Qudah concluded by demanding international protection for the Palestinian people and reaffirming support for their right to establish an independent, sovereign state on their national land, while bringing those responsible for violations to justice.
