RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 14, 2021 (WAFA) – The process to impeach US President Donald Trump in the US Congress and non-stop Israeli violations of Palestinian rights in the occupied territories were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
The main front-page story headline in al-Quds daily that went across the page said: "In a precedent no one has imagined, historical decision to impeach Trump."
Al-Ayyam daily headline said: "The US Representatives voted to impeach Trump as security was intensified in Washington prior to the inauguration of (US President-elect Joe) Biden." The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, had this topic lower on the front page and said in the headline that the US House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump and passed on the decision to the Senate.
The top front-page story in al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted the Israeli violations and said that the occupation authorities have intensified their Judaization plans of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem as soldiers and settlers attacked Palestinian farmers in Khirbet al-Tawil in the north of the West Bank.
Al-Ayyam said an Israeli crew carried out a three-dimensional survey and imaging inside the yards of Al-Aqsa Mosque under police protection.
Al-Quds said that the Israeli authorities have approved the construction of 530 new housing units in the illegal settlements in occupied Jerusalem while soldiers uprooted trees in Beit Ummar in the south of the West Bank.
Coronavirus and its impact in Palestine and the world at large was also highlighted on the front page of the three dailies with al-Quds saying that 30 people have died of coronavirus and 978 new cases were recorded yesterday in Palestine.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Palestinian epidemic committee has presented its recommendations on the lockdown to the cabinet.
It said the coronavirus variant is spreading around the world.
It said Issa Abu Sharar was sworn-in as president of the Palestinian Supreme Court.
It also said Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said Hebron city is the major recipient of projects this year.
Al-Ayyam said in a report that Hamas is disappointed with the work of the American field hospital set up in the north of the Gaza Strip because it deals only with dentistry and psychotherapy.
It quoted sources telling it that the legislative elections in Palestine will be held at the end of May and the presidential elections at the end of July.
It said that Israeli police attacked Palestinians in Nazareth who were protesting a visit by the Israeli prime minister to their city in the north of Israel and detained some.
