Israeli court extends detention of Palestinian  journalist Nasser Al-Lahham

RAMALLAH, July 10, 2025 (WAFA) – An Israeli military court at Ofer Prison extended the detention of Palestinian journalist Nasser Al-Lahham until next Sunday, claiming the need to continue his interrogation.

Al-Lahham, a prominent journalist, who was detained  from his home on July 7, as part of a Israeli campaign targeting Palestinian media workers since the start of the ongoing war on Gaza.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, Israel has intensified its crackdown against journalists in an unprecedented manner s, with 193 media workers arrested or detained since the war began. Fifty journalists remain in Israeli custody, including Al-Lahham.

Most of the detained journalists face charges of so-called "incitement" on social media and media platforms, while others are held under administrative detention without charge, allegedly based on "secret files."

The Commission further affirmed that Israel classifies journalists from Gaza as "unlawful combatants," with two journalists still forcibly disappeared since the war began.
