Israel delaying badly needed treatment of a sick prisoner, says body

RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 03, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli prison authorities have been delaying a badly needed medical treatment of a sick Palestinian political prisoner in the Israeli Nafha prison, today said the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission.

Since 2018, Jamal Amr, 49-years-old from the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, has been suffering from tumors in the liver and kidneys, stomach and intestinal problems, urinary tract infection and nerve problems, and is therefore in urgent need of medical treatment, the Commission said in a report.

The Commission accused the Israeli prison authorities of turning a blind eye to Amr's case by not allowing him to undergo any medical examinations and diagnosis

It also accused the Nafha prison administration of practicing medical negligence against him. So far, Amr has only been receiving painkillers from the prison administration.

A father of three, Amr has been in jail since 2004 and is serving a life sentence for resisting the Israeli occupation of his homeland.
