Government announces allocation of $500 million in support of water sector

RAMALLAH, Thursday, October 08, 2020 (WAFA) –  The government today announced the allocation of USD$500 million in support of the water sector in the occupied territories.

Speaking in an interview with Voice of Palestine radio, the Prime Minister’s Advisor Ahmed Azm announced that $501 million have been allocated to support the water sector and conduct a comprehensive restructuring for the water crisis through the establishment of a Palestinian water company concerned with reshaping projects in the northern and southern governorates.

He explained that in light of the current unprecedented financial crisis, the government is making all available efforts to support and empower some sectors, especially the health sector, by securing local resources and mobilizing national capabilities.

He added that there was talk about allocating a budget of $55 million to finance health and education projects for youth, with support from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait, covering various sectors in the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem.
