Statistics: Over 200,000 Licensed Vehicles in Palestine in 2012

RAMALLAH, July 18, 2013 (WAFA) - Total number of licensed vehicles in Palestine in 2012 was 217,000, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Thursday.

It said 144,000 vehicles were in the West Bank and 73,000 in the Gaza Strip.

The data showed that private cars formed 67% of the total vehicles.

The report results showed that the percentage of total number of workers in the transport, storage and communication activity in 2012 reached to 6.5% of total workers in Palestine, compared to 6% in 2011.

An increase of 19.5% in road accidents in the West Bank were registered in 2012 compared with 2011 and reached 8,849 accidents.

Number of casualties from these accidents was 8,195, an increase by 2.8% compared with 2011.

Those slightly injured formed 86.7% out of the total injured people, while the fatally injured formed 1.5%.

The results of the same survey also showed that the total number of landline telephones in Palestine was 394,000 lines by the end of 2012, an increase by 2.9% compared to 2011.

The results also indicated that the number of subscriptions in Palestinian cellular phone companies by the end of 2012 was 3.2 million subscriptions, a growth of 10.6% compared with 2011.
