RAMALLAH, October 16, 2012 (WAFA) – Four activists were Tuesday injured when Israeli soldiers attacked Palestinian and international protesters on highway 443 in the West Bank, according to the activists.
About 50 Palestinians active in the popular committees against the Israeli settlements and wall were joined by a number of international activists in blocking the highway that connects Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for 30 minutes before soldiers and border guards used pepper spray and sound bombs to disperse them.
Police arrested one activist who was released an hour later.
Highway 443 is used only by Israelis as Palestinians are not allowed to use most of the highway in spite of the fact it is located in the heart of the northern West Bank.
The protesters were demonstrating against settler attacks on Palestinian farmers and trees in the West Bank during the olive harvest season.
Protestors raised slogans saying “Israeli daily life can’t continue on as normal while Palestinians suffer under settler terror.”
