Exports Decrease, Imports Increase in April, says Bureau of Statistics

RAMALLAH, June 24, 2012 (WAFA) – Exports reached US $60.7 million in April of 2012 compared to the previous month, registering a decrease by 1.4%; while imports increased by 7.6% to reach $369.5 million in the same period, Sunday said a statement by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

 

Exports to other countries increased by 6.3% during in April compared to March of 2012, while exports to Israel decreased by 2.5% in the same period, representing 87.5% of Palestine total exports.

 

In addition, imports from other countries increased by 15.0% in April, while imports from Israel increased by 4.3% and represented 67.1% of the total Palestinian imports in the same period, added PCBS.

The net trade balance on registered goods, which represents the difference between exports and imports, in April of 2012 reached $306.9 million and showed an increase in trade deficit by 9.0% compared to March of 2012, as well as a decrease by 11.4% compared to April of 2011.
