RAMALLAH, April 24, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Tuesday highlighted Jordanian government denial of reports that it gave instructions to withdraw citizenship from Palestinians with Jordanian nationality based on the 1988 disengagement plan from the West Bank.

The dailies said Jordanian government spokesman, Rakan al-Majali, and other officials have stressed that no citizenship will be withdrawn from any Palestinian with Jordanian nationality.

Al-Quds featured senior Palestinian officials stating that the Palestinian leadership will seek a non-member state status similar to the Vatican situation at the United Nations General Assembly if attempts fail to resume negotiations with Israel.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida focused on the response of the head of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Armed Forces, Muhammad Tantawi, to calls made by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to deploy troops on borders with Egypt.

They reported on Tantawi saying, “If anyone comes close to Egypt’s borders, we will break their leg. Therefore, our forces must be in a full state of alert.”

Al-Ayyam highlighted raid by Israeli settlers from Yitzhar settlement on the village of Urif, south of Nablus, attacking a local school and injuring eight students.

The dailies printed photos of Palestinians protesting in solidarity with the prisoners who are on a hunger strike to protest their administrative detention.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on Israeli court rejection of appeals filed by administrative detainees Bilal Diab and Thaer Halahleh, who have been on a hunger strike for 55 days, against their detention.
