JERUSALEM, April 18, 2026 (WAFA) -- Israeli occupation forces barred multiple school students from crossing a checkpoint on Saturday, blocking their access to schools between the neighborhoods of Al-Sawahra Al-Gharbiya and Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya, east of occupied Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate affirmed that the children aged between 7 and 15 were stopped at the Al-Shayah Checkpoint, under the pretext that their names were not listed.

The residents appealed to human rights organizations and institutions to pressure Israeli authorities to open the checkpoint so the children could join their classmates in the schools of Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya.
