Israeli Bulldozers Raze Land in Deir al-Hatab near Nablus

NABLUS, February 14, 2011 (WAFA) - Four Israeli army bulldozers Monday razed agricultural land in Deir al-Hatab, east of Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli bulldozers razed a piece of land near the village school to establish a settlement.

The head of the village council Abdul Karim Hussein said that the army activity is taking place near the girls’ school in the village, which means a direct threat to demolish it. He called for a rapid intervention to stop the army work.

Nearly 3000 people live in Deir al-Hatab, some of its land was seized by Jewish settlers to build the Elon Moreh settlement, which was the first settlement to be established in the northern West Bank after the June 1967 war.
