JERUSALEM, April 20, 2010 (WAFA)- As the state of Israel celebrates its creation, over 8 million Palestinian refugees who lost their homes and were driven out of their country by Zionist militias are still living in the shadow of the catastrophic event that took place 62 years ago, said Dimitri Diliani, Member of Fateh Movement Revolutionary Council.
Diliani commented: Although U.N. recognized State of Israel, the latest did not attempt to resolve the Palestinian refugees dilemma throughout its 62 years of Existence despite U.N. resolution 194 that calls for the return of the Palestinian Refugees to their homes and their entitlement to compensation for the hardship resulted from the establishment of the state of Israel.
Moreover, Israel maintains its illegal occupation of Palestinian Lands in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip. Its occupation that began in 1967 continues with more rigor than ever despite U.N. resolutions, international political will demanding its end.
Israel’s failure to recognize and deal with atrocities caused by its independence, its continuous illegal occupation of the Palestinian Territory, and its ruthless measures against the Palestinian people
Diliani sent a message to the Israeli people on this occasion calling them to look within to find the missing link for achieving peace, to take the necessary steps towards reconciliation, and to recognize the right of the Palestinian people to live in dignity, freedom and peace in an independent state along the 1967 borders.
