Literary Celebrities Join Solidarity Event to Highlight Plight of the Holy Land

LONDON, November 16, 2009 (WAFA)- Palestine Solidarity Campaign announced Monday that celebrated playwright Caryl Churchill will be among those taking part in its annual Christmas concert on  December 1st  to highlight the plight of the Occupied Holy Land.

In après release, PSC said other performers at the “Voices for Bethlehem 09” concert in London are respected actor David Calder, author Deborah Moggach and esteemed writer and TV producer Karl Sabbagh.

The event will also feature a full choir and brass band, featuring up and coming musicians and singers, members of the Adhoc Humanitarians Orchestra, who will perform a number of seasonal pieces and a range of traditional carols; as well as an introduction by former lecturer at Bethlehem University, Samira Hassassian.

The purpose of the event is to highlight the ongoing strangulation of the Holy Land at the hands of the Israeli state, and expose the worsening conditions for the residents of Bethlehem. Funds raised will be shared between the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Holy Land Trust Rebuilding Project.
