PARIS, September 3, 2009 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that we are ready to resume the final status negotiations if Israel freezes settlement activities.
In a joint press conference with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, President Abbas said that the USA is keen to resume the talk, as will the European specialty France. We would settle the issue before the end of September.
Asked about the US proposed meeting with the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu on margin of the UN general Assembly annual meetings in New York, President Abbas said it would happen following an Israeli decision to freeze settlement activities.
President Abbas arrived earlier in Paris in a two-day official visit to meet tomorrow
with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
President Abbas will visit Cairo on Friday to meet with Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak on Saturday.
President Abbas is keen on holding consultations with President Mubarak on the Palestinian affairs, “especially on the political situation in light of Egypt's strenuous efforts to end the division,' Barakat Al-Farra, acting Palestinian ambassador to Egypt, said.
