Israeli Soldiers Attack Bil'in Weekly Demonstration, Wounding Scores of Activists

RAMALLAH, May 23, 2008 (WAFA) - Israeli troops on Friday attacked Palestinian, Israeli and foreign activists protesting the Israeli Apartheid Wall being built in the West Bank village of Bil'in, near Ramallah.

Local witnesses said that the soldiers fired tear-gas shells and rubber-coated steel bullets to disperse the demonstrators, wounding number of participants.

The villagers of Bil'in said the wall is an attempt to grab their land and undermine the viability of their promised state.

Hundreds of foreign peace activists and Palestinians demonstrate at least once a week against the wall, which seizes large tracts of the West Bank lands.
