President Abbas Calls on USA to be Neutral in Dealing with Palestinian Cause

 

 

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, May 18, 2008, (WAFA)-President Mahmoud Abbas called on Sunday on the USA to be unbiased, siding with the international legitimacy and not to negotiate on our behalf.

 

In a press conference before leaving Sharm El-Sheikh, President Abbas said that our position is clear and based on the international legitimacy and through it we spoke with Americans and Israelis, adding that all we ask from the Americans not to negotiate on our behalf and to commit to neutrality.

 

'The speech of President Bush in the Israeli Knesset has evoked us and we have many remarks on. We are talking in absolute transparency and openness and asked that the American position to be parallel,' President told the press conference.

 

As for the issue of Jerusalem, President said that the United States or else will not be able to give the green light to abandon it, and we with Israel put all the files and the issue of Jerusalem on the table of negotiations, pointing out that Arab Jerusalem was present in all negotiations with the Israeli side, because we consider and insist that East Jerusalem is the capital of our state and no one can waive to any one on behalf of anyone on this case.

 

President said that there are negotiations with the Israeli side and we don't want illusions that things have been resolved, pointing out that the files are open and we do not want to close them, but dealing with all files.

 

As For the coup in the Gaza Strip, President stressed the need for Hamas to retreat from what it had done and go back to legitimacy, and then 'we're ready for legislative and presidential elections.'
