Al-Mezan Center for HR Warns of Environmental catastrophe in Gaza Strip

 

 

 

GAZA, May 13, 2008, (WAFA)-Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights Warned on Tuesday from an environmental catastrophe on the shore of the Sea of Gaza because the flow of sewage.

 

In a statement, the center said that fuel shortages in the Gaza Strip and power outages continued to stop pumping the nine stations sewage treatment plant, adding that as a result waste water rushed from coastal terminals No. 1, 2, 3 directly to the sea, causing pollution of water and lifting rates coast of untreated Gaza Wastewater.

 

It revealed that this pollution is a direct threat to public health, especially with the start of summer season, which is the flow of citizens in large numbers to the Sea of Gaza beach for recreation.

 

The Center called on the international community to immediately move and prevent disaster in the Gaza Strip.
