Weather: Low pressure to affect the region starting tonight

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 12, 2020 (WAFA) – Weather today is partially cloudy to cloudy and dusty in daytime with a slight rise in temperature which approaches 8°C above the seasonal average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Light to moderate, southeasterly to northeasterly wind is expected and sea waves are medium to high.

A low pressure is set to affect the region in nighttime causing temperature to drop and paving the way for scattered rainfall, thunderstorms and hail.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 24°C and a low of 11°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 23°C and a low of 10°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 16°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 29°C and a low of 15°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Friday‘s temperature is expected to plummet, paving the way to partially cloudy to cloudy, relatively cold and dusty conditions in daytime and cold conditions in nighttime.

Scattered rainfall is expected along with occasional thunderstorms in the early morning hours, with the rain intensifying towards the night.

The low pressure is expected to continue on Saturday causing temperature to further drop and paving the way to partially cloudy to cloudy and cold conditions. Scattered rain showers, hail and thunderstorm are expected.

Partially cloudy skies are expected for Sunday with a rise in temperature. A slight chance of scattered rain showers is expected on some areas.

PMD warns people against floods in low areas, particularly in the southern districts, gusty wind which could reach 100 km/h, low horizontal visibility and slippery roads.
