JERUSALEM, Wednesday, March 11, 2020 (WAFA) – The United Kingdom announced today the allocation of $100,000 to support efforts to fight coronavirus, Covid19, outbreak in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The UK Consulate General in Jerusalem said in a tweet that the money would go to the World Health Organization in the occupied Palestinian territories “to accelerate its response to coronavirus in the Occupied Palestinian Territories to ensure early detection and case management of suspected Covid19 cases.”
The Palestinian Authority has adopted strict measures to contain the disease and prevent its spread, first by declaring on March 5 a month-long state of emergency in the Palestinian territories following the detection of the first seven cases of coronavirus and then isolating the city of Bethlehem where 29 out of the 30 corona cases discovered so far are located.
