Presidential spokesman describes US position on Jerusalem and settlements as crime of century

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 20, 2019 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh today described the US decisions on Jerusalem and settlements as one of the biggest crimes of the century.

He said in a statement that the United States is making a historic mistake by adopting a colonial policy in its position on Jerusalem and the settlements, which is the biggest crime of the century, that made regional powers lose its role in the course of events.

Abu Rudeineh said that the continuation of these mistakes will contribute to the ongoing burning of the entire region, which is due to the failed US policy and that nobody will be able to escape the fire that will be caused by the failed US policy.

He added that the main battle the Palestinian people and their leadership are fighting is to preserve the Palestinian existence and the identity of Jerusalem as a Palestinian Arab city.

The Spokesman stressed that the solution that satisfies the Palestinian people is one that guarantees the end of the current devastating fires, thus the US administration should reconsider its wrong positions because the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land no matter what the difficulties.

“Our people are able to foil the plot just as it has foiled it in the past, and that an independent Palestinian state will be established sooner or later, and Jerusalem, its holy sites, identity and heritage will be the shield that will protect the Palestinian national project,” Abu Rudeineh concluded.

The region is under severe tension after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the Jewish Israeli settlements in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank are not inconsistent with international law.
