RAMALLAH, Monday, November 18, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces’ crackdown on protests in solidarity with Moath Amarneh, a Palestinian photojournalist who was blinded in one eye after being injured by Israeli military gunfire while covering a an anti-settlement demonstration, hit the front page headlines in Monday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds reported that dozens of journlists were injured from Israeli military gunfire or suffocated from tear gas fired by Israeli forces who suppressed protests in solidarity with Amarneh across the West Bank.
According to the dailies, President Mahmoud Abbas phoned Amarneh to check on his health.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida added that Abbas issued instructions to provide Amarneh with required medical treatment.
Al-Ayyam spotlighted a AFP’s report indicating that Amarneh is threatened to lose his eye sight because of Israeli military gunfire.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam printed photos showing Israeli soldiers attacking journalists who staged a sit-in protest in solidarity with Amarneh at the northern entrance of Bethlehem city.
Furthermore, the dailies said that Israeli occupation authorities seized hundreds of Palestinian-owned land in the northern West Bank district of Salfit.
Al-Quds said that Israeli forces detained a number of Palestinians during confrontations in the northern West Bank city of Tulkarem, the Ramallah-district Jalazone camp and the Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida elaborated that two Palestinian minors were injured from Israeli military gunfire at the entrance of al-Jalazone refugee camp, located to the north of Ramallah.
Al-Ayyam said that a Palestinian young man was killed by Israeli police gunfire in Jerusalem.
According to al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida, the first trial hearing in the case of 21-year-old Israa Gharib, who was beaten to death by her relatives in what is belived to be a case of honor killing in August 2019.
Al-Quds reported Islamic Jihad movement warning Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu against manipulating the Gaza ceasefire.
It said that leader of the Blue and White Party Benny Gantz and leader of Yisrael Beiteinu Avigdor Lieberman agreed on the borad outlines to form the new Israeli government.
It also reported that the Palestinian community in London and San Francisco held protests in solidarity with Gaza.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that European human rights experts are coordinating a move to prosecute Israel at international tribunals.
