Egypt urges Israel to immediately stop violence in Jerusalem

CAIRO, July 21, 2017 (WAFA) – Egypt called on Friday on Israel to immediately stop violence and escalation against the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem and the surrounding area of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a press statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed its deep concern about the repercussions of this escalation and expressed its deep resentment at the deaths and injuries of innocent Palestinian civilians as a result of the excessive use of force by Israel.

Egypt stressed that Israel should respect the sanctity of religious sites and the right of Palestinians to practice religious rituals freely and safely without the use of arbitrary measures or unfair restrictions that fuel feelings of tension.

Israelis shot dead three Palestinians and wounded hundreds others on Friday in a day of rage called for in support of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and in protest against new Israeli measures at the Muslim holy site.
