RAMALLAH, Tuesday, November 06, 2018 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government decided on Tuesday to provide East Jerusalem hospitals with $12.5 million to compensate them for the funds the United States has decided to cut from the hospitals, said Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
“It is our national duty toward Jerusalem, its institutions and people, and to prevent attempts to bury its identity and the heritage of our holy city … the cabinet decided today to allocate $12.5 million as a grant to cover the deficit caused by the US decision to halt financing of our hospitals in Jerusalem,” he said.
Hamdallah announced this decision during a meeting with the directors of the East Jerusalem hospitals at his office in Ramallah.
The US stopped almost all its contributions to the Palestinians in an attempt to get them to accept its plans for a settlement with Israel.
