League of Arab States demands international community to end its silence, shoulder responsibilities toward Jerusalem

CAIRO, Sunday, June 2, 2019 (WAFA) – The League of Arab States warned on Sunday of the dangers of storming al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli forces, demanding the international community and relevant UN organizations to end their silence and promptly move and shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities towards Jerusalem and its holy sites.

The pan-Arab organization also urged the international community to take practical measures that would compel Israel to comply with international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy before it is too late.

In a statement, Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the occupied Arab territories, Said Abu Ali, said the storming of al-Aqsa Mosque by 1200 settlers, under the heavy protection of Israeli occupation forces, is a new escalation that reveals the intentions of the Israeli occupation to Judaize the city of Jerusalem and its plans to impose a new reality on the ground.

Abu Ali warned of the consequences of the practices of "the settler government", which he stressed harms the feelings of around 1.5 billion Muslims around the world, pointing out that the occupation authorities are planning and pushing toward a new bloodshed in al-Aqsa.

Earlier today, a number of Palestinian Muslim worshippers were injured by Israeli police officers who were escorting dozens of Jewish fanatics to allow them to perform a provocative tour inside the holy al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.

Some 400 Jewish fanatics led by Ehuda Glick, a hard-line rabbi and MK, entered the flashpoint compound before the police officers scuffled with worshippers who chanted "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) to express their anger at the settlers‘ move.
