RAMALLAH, Sunday, February 9, 2020 (WAFA) – Minister of National Economy, Khaled Osseili, said today that the Palestinian government was pursuing political, diplomatic and legal action to break Israel‘s recent ban on the Palestinian agricultural exports abroad.
Speaking to an emergency meeting of the Palestinian Exports Council in Ramallah, Osseili described the Israeli ban on Palestinian agricultural exports as a flagrant violation of the rules of the World Trade Organization, to which Israel is a member, as well as other relevant agreements and treaties.
He affirmed the support of the Palestinian government for the local farmers and exporters so that they would be able to withstand the Israeli punitive measures and policies, which he said were aimed at stifling the Palestinian economy to serve electoral propaganda.
Osseili stressed the importance of joining forces by all parties to confront the Israeli ban on Palestinian agricultural exports, as well as to help the government achieve its vision of economic disengagement from the Israeli occupation.
