Israeli forces demolish commercial structures in northern West Bank

SALFIT, Tuesday, December 04, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday demolished several commercial structures in Hares village, west of Salfit in the northern West Bank, said a villager.

Fadi Suleiman, who owns one of the demolished structures, said that a large number of Israeli forces raided the village before a military bulldozer demolished a blacksmith workshop, a carpentry workshop and a laundry wash.

The structures were demolished purportedly for being built without a license from the so-called Israeli Civil Administration, in Area C, which accounts for 94 percent of the village’s land.

Israeli refuses to permit virtually any Palestinian construction in Area C, which constitutes 60 percent of the occupied West Bank and falls under full Israeli military rule, forcing residents to build without obtaining rarely-granted permits to provide shelters for their families.

In contrast, Israel much more easily gives the estimated 550,000 Jewish Israeli settlers there building permits and provides them with roads, electricity, water and sewage systems that remain inaccessible to many neighboring Palestinians.

The “Civil Administration” is the name Israel gives to the body administering its military occupation of the West Bank.
