Palestine confirms five new coronavirus cases

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, April 2, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine Thursday evening confirmed five new novel coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 160.

Government spokesman Ibrahim Milhem announced in a press statement that the samples for 35 suspected cases were tested, and the test results showed that five cases tested positive for the deadly virus.

He added the four out of the five new cases were of Palestinians who worked at a poultry plant in the Israeli industrial Atarot zone in East Jerusalem. The workers, aged between 30 and 40, are residents of Sinjil and Deir Jarir villages, located to the northeast of Ramallah city.

The fifth case, Milhem added, was that of a woman, in her 30s, from Biddu town, northwest of Jerusalem. She contracted the deadly virus from her husband who worked as the poultry plant.

The cases were transferred to some hotels in Rmallah as well as to Hugo Chavez Hospital in TurmusAyya town, north of Ramallah.

He noted that in coordination with the Civil Affairs Commission and the Ministries of Health and Labor, Palestinian competent authorities is set to receive 250 Palestinian workers who work at the poultry plant, and distribute them to the various quarantine centers in Ramallah for testing them.
