Cabinet condemns deliberate policy of medical negligence in Israeli jails

RAMALLAH, Monday, September 09, 2019 (WAFA) - The Palestinian cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, condemned during its weekly meeting held in Ramallah Israel’s deliberate policy of medical negligence that led to the death of cancer-stricken prisoner Bassam Al-Sayeh in Israeli jails, holding the Israeli authorities fully responsible for his death.

The cabinet called on international and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to put an end to the suffering of prisoners in Israeli prisons and to compel the Israeli authorities to apply international and humanitarian law and international treaties in particular.

The Cabinet called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to immediately launch proceedings against Israeli war criminals.

It condemned Israel’s policy of withholding the bodies of martyrs, the latest of which was the withholding of the body of 14-year-old Naseem Abu Roumi, who was shot dead by Israeli forces on August 15 after an alleged attack in al-Izariyyeh to the east of occupied Jerusalem.
