Israeli forces detain 11 Palestinians from Jerusalem, West Bank

 

RAMALLAH, September 3, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained overnight and Monday 11 Palestinians from occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

The PPS said in a statement that four people from East Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood were detained in addition to two from  Biddo, a village near Jerusalem.

The army also detained a 58-year-old former prisoner from Jenin district, and two 22-year old youths from Tulkarm and Qalqilya districts in the north of the West Bank.

Two people from the Hebron district in the south of the West Bank were detained as well.

According to a statistic by Prisoners Support and Human Rights Association, the total number of Palestinian political prisoners is 5820, with 446 of them being administrative detainees, 270 minors and 63 females as of July 2018.

A reported by the Palestinian Prisoner’s Commission said on Monday that 41 minors are behind bars in the Israeli prison, Ofer, near Ramallah.

International Defense for Children also said in a report on Monday that Israeli forces detained 27 minors and put them in administrative detention since October 2015. Two of them are still under arrest.
