Settlers attack Palestinian farmers harvesting their olive crops

NABLUS/BETHLEHEM, Wednesday, October 16, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers attacked today Palestinians farmers while harvesting their olive crops in the north and south of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

Ghassan Daghlas, an official in the north of the West Bank, said settlers attacked olive harvesters and international supporters in the village of Burin, south of the city of Nablus.

He said the settlers attacked the olive pickers causing an injury to an Israeli activist who suffered broken bones and international supporters who suffered bruises. The settlers also set fire to olive fields.

In the south of the West Bank, settlers threw rocks at olive farmers in Jabaa village south of Bethlehem, said a Palestinian security source.

He said dozens of settlers attacked members of the Hmeidat family as they picked olives, apparently without causing any injury.

The same settlers attacked and injured two days ago an elderly member of the same family who was picking olives in the family fields.

Settler violence against Palestinian civilians, even though almost daily, intensifies during the crucial olive harvest season.
