Palestinian land razed to expand an Israeli army camp

NABLUS, Thursday, June 13, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers razed today large areas of Palestinian private land in the village of Asira al-Qibliya, to the south of the occupied northern West Bank city of Nablus, in order to expand an army camp, according to Hafez Saleh, head of the village’s council.

He told WAFA that more than five dunums (5000 square meters) of land near a military camp built on the southern area of the village lands were razed to expand the existing camp.

He said that the current camp was established in 2014, expanded in 2018 and now more land is being razed for further expansion purposes, noting that the Israeli army notified the village of its decision to seize lands until 2021 as a pretext to expand the camp.

Israeli army camps are often turned into Jewish settlements.
